As of September 22nd, the Ontario Government will require proof of vaccination in order to enter certain establishments. This new policy will apply to our tours, shuttle services, and the establishments that we visit.

For tour reservations booked to take place after September 22nd, all guests will be required to be fully vaccinated for 14 or more days prior to their reservation and must be able to provide proof of full vaccination and photo identification when requested.

Currently, accepted forms of photo ID are driver’s licenses, passports, and health cards. Your vaccination record can be shown in print form or PDF on a cell phone.

To help keep our guests and staff safe, and to comply with these new regulations, guests will be required to show vaccination records and photo ID to the tour guide at the time of your tour pick up to be able to attend the tour. You may also be asked to provide proof of full vaccination and photo ID at tour stops if tastings are conducted indoors.

Cleaning Policies and Procedures

Sandbanks Vacations wants to make sure you feel safe and comfortable in your vacation rental this season. Since we began in 2009, we have always had high cleaning standards, and we will continue to make sure we are at the highest level of cleaning and disinfecting.

To keep everyone safe, we have updated our cleaning procedures to be in line with The Health & Safety Board of Ontario and the Municipality of Prince Edward County Accommodations Sector. Please see below for our detailed cleaning policies and procedures:

Tours Policies and Protocols:
Vehicle Cleaning & Disinfectant Procedures:

  • All tour vehicles are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized between tours.
  • We use a spray disinfectant that has a Drug Identification Number (DIN). We follow the product label for dilutions and contact time required to be effective and safe.
  • Tour vehicles are equipped with hand sanitizer and Lysol wipes for guide and guest use.

  • Masks are MANDATORY for guests and tour guides while in the tour vehicle and inside a winery, brewery, or other public, commercial establishment (when not tasting/sampling). Masks can be provided to groups if we are notified in advance of the tour date (no fee). Tour guides will have a few extra masks on hand for guests if needed.
  • We are no longer providing bottled water for our tour guests. We highly recommend guests bring their own water for the tour.
  • A COVID-19 related questionnaire must be filled out and signed at the start of the tour.
  • If guests could have been exposed to COVID-19 or are experiencing symptoms, we ask that they refrain from joining the tour. The tour guide is permitted to refuse guests for these reasons if they see fit.
  • If you or any member in your group have been outside of Canada (by air or otherwise) in the last 2 weeks, then you will not be permitted to join the tour.
  • A maximum of 8 people will be permitted in a tour vehicle to comply with group size restrictions.
  • All tours are open; multiple groups may be on the same tour (up to a max of 8).
  • Private tours are available by request pending availability and are subject to a surcharge based on group size.
  • Please refrain from sitting on the passenger side of the vehicle beside the guide.
  • Maintain social distancing and abide by applicable COVID-19 protocols while at tour stops.

Accommodation Cleaning and Disinfection Procedures:

  • All cleaners wear masks & gloves when inside the vacation rental.
  • We use a spray disinfectant that has a Drug Identification Number (DIN). We follow the product label for dilutions and contact time required to be effective and safe.
  • Our cleaning team opens all the windows while they are cleaning to get airflow through the house.
  • All surfaces are disinfected and sanitized: We wipe down everything, including light switches, doorknobs, remote controls, etc.
  • All linens and towels are cleaned and sanitized prior to your stay.
  • Couches and chairs are vacuumed and sprayed prior to your stay.
  • Kitchen: toasters, coffee makers, and all appliances are wiped down and sanitized.
  • Bathrooms: showers, tubs, toilets, and sinks are disinfected and sanitized, including all faucets, switches, handles, and floors.

We ask that our guests make sure that everyone they are travelling with is healthy and have not been in contact with anyone that has or may have COVID-19. Please follow these guidelines while you are travelling and staying here in Prince Edward County:

Self-Protection Guidelines:

  • Stay at home if you are sick to avoid spreading germs to others.
  • Practice diligent hand hygiene always. Wash your hands regularly with plain soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer with no less than 60% alcohol content (ideally 70%).
  • Practice cough etiquette. Cough into your elbow or cover your mouth and nose with a tissue that is immediately disposed of in an appropriate waste bin and wash your hands immediately.
  • Maintain a two-meter distance from others
  • Do not touch your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Do not share food, drinks, or utensils
  • Avoid touching the personal items of others. Wash hands or sanitize immediately if you do.

Staying in a Vacation Rental this season may look and feel different than it has in the past. Generally, vacation rentals are stocked up with coffee, tea, spices, board games, and books – all things to make your stay feel more like home. Unfortunately, with the current state, many of our homes are not going to offer these items as it will be too hard to disinfect these items and keep our guests safe.

  • Bring your own groceries and supplies: we ask that you shop in your hometown prior to coming to Prince Edward County.
  • If you are bringing your own linens, please advise us so that we can communicate with our cleaning team, and we will leave the beds unmade for your convenience.
  • Have sanitizer in your vehicle and/or purse so that you can disinfect wherever you go.
  • Bring your own toiletries. Some homes may have single-use shampoo/conditioner provided, but that will not last a week.
  • Make sure you bring games and books in case you have a rainy day. Some of our homes may no longer be supplying these items for safety reasons.
  • Many establishments will be operating at a very minimal occupancy: you will have longer wait times to get into stores, restaurants, and wineries. Please plan accordingly.
  • Sandbanks Provincial Park: if the park is open for visitors, please be mindful of their rules and regulations. In addition, there will most likely be limitations on guest count at the park to adhere to provincial physical distancing measures. Please plan accordingly as there may be long line ups.
  • We also ask that you are very polite and respectful to all staff working at any establishment in Prince Edward County. They are all doing their best to keep you, your family, and themselves safe during these uncertain times. We thank you in advance for your patience and consideration.

The Team at Sandbanks Vacations hopes you have a fun and relaxing vacation while staying with us!

*Please note, we may have to adjust your Check-In and Check-Out times to ensure our cleaners have time to do a thorough clean and disinfection of the home. Please make sure to check your email before arrival to stay up to date on changes to your booking.
