How To Plan The Perfect Date Night In Prince Edward County

Go ahead and wow your significant other on your next date night… we won’t tell them we planned the night for you.
Hint: It includes wine, activities, and delicious eats. (Okay, okay, we planned this date night for ourselves. But we know you’ll love it too!)

Here are 6 wonderful ideas for your next date (or romantic getaway!) in beloved Prince Edward County.

1. Get Moving

In the colder months, bundle up and walk along the snow-covered terrain, or enjoy snowshoeing and cross-country skiing!

You can go along the Millennium Trail or Sandbanks Provincial Park. Both offer great trails – just keep in mind you’ll have to share the road with other activists, like cross country skiers or even snowmobilers on the Millennium Trail.

You can even rent snowshoes from a few wineries, like Sugarbush and Three Dog Winery, then access trails right from their properties. Check out our guide to the top winter activities to do in Prince Edward County for more ideas.

In the warmer months, get outside and soak up the sun!
Who doesn’t love the beach after all? Start the day with laid back vibes as you bask in the sunshine and cool down in Lake Ontario at Sandbanks Provincial Park’s Outlet Beach, one of the largest and most beautiful beaches in Ontario.

If you’re turning up the romance in the off-season, the beach is still a great location to hit up, especially without the crowds.

(Tip: If it’s summer, take your date out there during a weekday if possible. Plenty of visitors visit The County primarily for this beach, so the crowds get really big, really fast. Your best chance of finding prime sandy real estate is to visit Sandbanks during the week, rather than the weekend.)

2. Get Cozy + Snuggle Up

In the colder season, check out these cozy-time treasures with fire-side comfort!

Hit up a mix of indoor and outdoor fireplaces to roast marshmallows, enjoy a wine or a hot chocolate, or to simply snuggle up to a loved one!

Slake Brewing (both), Drake Devonshire (both), Flame + Smith (both), Gillingham Brewing Company (outdoor) Kinsip House of Fine Spirits (outdoor), Midtown Brewing Company (both), Parsons Brewing Company (outdoor), Matron Fine Beer (outdoor),  The Grange of Prince Edward (indoor), Three Dog Winery (outdoor).

In the warmer season, enjoy a picnic at Lake on the Mountain. This park is one of the County’s natural wonders.

It’s truly a gorgeous sight to behold. You can debate how the turquoise water actually got here, because, as the website says, “it defies all known geographical and geological theory.”

There are picnic tables on-site, so pack a great lunch and have fun taking in the views while trying to solve a little mystery.

3. Experience Culturally-Diverse Eats

No trip to Prince Edward County would be complete without a culinary experience. The local restaurant scene is bursting with flavours, with plenty of places offering up locally-sourced menu items – so that not only would you be supporting local businesses, you’d be supporting the local farms too.

The County is a food-lovers haven – with an eclectic mix of culturally-diverse restaurants and bars to satiate any hunger or thirst.
