Houses for Rent in Picton

If you want to be at the centre of it all, consider making Picton your temporary home-away-from- home.
A charming town right in the heart of Prince Edward County, it’s a popular destination for visitors because of its century homes, vibrant arts scene and close proximity to some of the county’s best attractions, such as Sandbanks Provincial Park.
The town also features an array of boutique shops and art galleries, as well as a bustling farmers’ market and annual events that define small town living at its best.
While you’re there, set aside some time to explore the town’s historic buildings and landmarks, and to check out some of the area restaurants, such as Merrill House, OpenTable’s Most Booked Restaurant in Prince Edward County.
Also of note: Picton is a great starting point for exploring the county’s wineries and beaches!
With that, here’s a few options for you to consider if you’re thinking of making Picton your vacation’s home base.
The Lilibet
This bright and modern Picton home, located in downtown Picton, is a dog-friendly property open all year round that sleeps up to four people.
If you’re coming into town to enjoy some golf, you’re in luck. The home’s just minutes away from the Picton Golf and Country Club, a challenging and enjoyable 18-hole, par 72 Championship Course.

When you’re done hitting the greens, relax on the backyard’s patio, which has four Adirondack chairs that are perfect for settling into with a good book and a glass of county wine.
We also encourage you to take full advantage of the home’s fully-stocked kitchen, simply because there’s a range of shops right in Picton that make creating a meal from scratch easy.
Check out the Kingston Olive Oil Company, which provides the unique experience to try premium extra virgin olive oils and balsamic vinegars from local artisans around the world, or the Agrarian Market, which has a range of meat, dairy, produce, baked good, preserves and coffee to choose from.
Hill Street Blue
This two-bedroom home, sitting pretty on a quiet street in Picton, has a private fenced-in backyard and a stunning view of Picton Harbour. From here, you’re just a hop, skip and jump away from everything the town has to offer.
Bring the kiddos and the dogs. This place welcomes both, so it’s ideal for a family-focused getaway, or for couples escaping from the everyday. The two queen-sized beds in each of the rooms will make sure everyone’s in store for a good night’s sleep.
During your stay, we highly recommend sipping some of the County’s wines beneath the grapevines of the pergola patio.
Conrad + Melville
If you’re traveling with a big crew, the Conrad + Melville vacation home, located in a peaceful residential area, is the perfect Picton vacation home rental for families.
Sleeping up to 10 people, this beautiful vacation spot has five bedrooms (three of which boast incredible views of the water), and three bathrooms, so the chances are pretty low that you and your guests will need to fight over who gets to shower first. Even better? Two dueling chefs can cook at once in the home’s two kitchens.
And if you’re a sun worshipper – or just like being surrounded by those you love – you’ll adore the home’s large deck overlooking the water, which seats up to 16 people.
This home is also pet-friendly, so if you’re looking to bring one along, you’re welcome to.
Picton Century Home
With its gourmet kitchen and spa-inspired bathroom complete with a deep soaker tub, we’re willing to hedge a bet that the Picton Century Home will leave you never wanting to well, leave!
During your stay, this home puts you close to all the amenities the town has to offer, so make sure you set aside some time to wander around and check out some of the boutiques, shops and restaurants. Want to take advantage of the kitchen? Feel free! You’re just a short walk away from the grocery store, so you can whip up a five-course meal in no time.
With that being said, it’s worth popping by the Picton Town Hall Farmers’ Market, which takes place each Sunday, to locally source the ingredients for your dinner menu. There’s a great collection of local growers offering fresh, locally-grown produce that’s picked at premium freshness, making it deliciously flavorful.
If you’re up for a bit of a drive (and we’re not talking far, it’s just a quick 19-minutes), you can also check out the Wellington Farmers’ Market, at the Eddie Hotel and Farm.
Once you’re done enjoying the local fare, tuck into one of the home’s three bedrooms, which are perfect for six guests.
The Verne
This airy two-level, two-bedroom cottage, which has been recently renovated, is perfect for two couples vacationing together.
If it’s a view you’re after, you’re going to find it here. Because when you’re sitting in the solarium, your mind will be tricked into thinking you’re actually floating on the water.
Is there an aspiring chef in your group? Send them off to the open kitchen, which has a large island so you can put your feet up and keep them company while they’re working.
Just 10 minutes from downtown Picton, the home also has a private dock and terrace, so you can soak in the epic views in style as you cool down with a refreshing glass of county cider from The County Cider Company.
Prince Edward County Pet-Friendly Vacation Rentals

Pet-friendly vacation rentals are becoming increasingly popular among travelers who want to bring their furry friends along on vacation in PEC.
Mind you, there are certain rules and restrictions in place for animals that are longing to escape from the everyday grind of naps and treats, but at least you won’t have to worry about the stress that comes with finding a kennel or pet-sitter while you’re away.
Before booking, just check with us regarding pet policies specific to each vacation rental and any additional fees that may apply.
Wellington Lake House
Wellington, a small village in Prince Edward County, is known for its scenic beauty and local artisan shops. It’s also home to an impressive collection of wineries.
Just here for the sips? We don’t blame you.
Take tours and enjoy tastings to your heart’s content, including the ever-popular Norman Hardie Winery, and Karlo Estates, which you’ll love for its four-season Speakeasy Wine Lounge.

When it comes to recharging at night, however, you and your pet will love Wellington Lake House’s three bedrooms and three baths, perfect for six guests looking to stay in the heart of the little village and in close proximity to said wineries.
The vacation home gives you the chance to be just steps away from the water, and enjoy a private patio and fully-equipped kitchen. But if you don’t feel like cooking (you are on vacation, after all), head down the road to enjoy world-class dining that’s right outside your door. Options include the Drake Devonshire, East + Main Bistro, or Midtown Brewery.
Away in the County
Cherry Valley, situated in the northeastern part of the county, along the shores of East Lake, is a picturesque rural area known for its scenic beauty and agricultural heritage.
The community is surrounded by lush farmland and rolling hills, making it a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, including hikers, cyclists and birdwatchers.
Sounds like you? Consider a stay at Away in the County, a four-bedroom, 4.5 bathroom home with a pool (new for summer 2023) that was recently featured on HGTV.
This place was designed to allow you (and your pet!) to get away from it all, and here, you can do it in style.
The decor is elegantly simple, with spacious rooms that have well-appointed bathrooms and stunning views of East Lake and the gardens. And it has room for you and seven others, making it an ideal getaway for larger groups of people.
There’s an expansive marble terrace and there are gardens by the lake that may give you the odd glimpse at a swan gliding by. If you’re a reader, check out the home library’s extensive collection.
Sounds more and more tempting by the minute, doesn’t it?
If all that doesn’t seal the deal, perhaps this will: you’re 10 minutes away from Sandbanks Provincial Park and only 12 minutes from the quaint village of Bloomfield, making this country escape ideal for those who still want to do some adventuring that’s not too far off the beaten path.
Bloomfield Guest House
Located in the quaint and charming village of Bloomfield, the Bloomfield Guest House offers a quiet retreat where you can enjoy all that The County has to offer.
With two bedrooms, the Bloomfield Guest House has a barbecue on the back deck so you and your pet can enjoy flavourful, home-cooked meals during your stay.
And if you under packed (is that even a thing?!), you can take advantage of the home’s washer and dryer on the main floor.
You’ll love how this home gives you easy access to Sandbanks Provincial Park (you’re looking at a quick 10-minute drive before you can dip your toes in the sand!), and is within walking distance to friendly Mainstreet Bloomfield. We promise your pooch will love exploring the charming core.
During your stay, take some time to check out Oeno Gallery, which features contemporary and historic fine art from Canadian and international artists.
In 2011, the gallery opened its Sculpture Garden, which provides a unique outdoor gallery from which large-scale artwork has been acquired for private and corporate properties. On three acres of winding paths, sculptures by Canadian and American artists are framed by wild grasses and garden beds brimming with sage and lavender. And your dog is welcome (just keep them leashed!), so they can soak in some culture, too.

Every year, over 30,000 visitors come to see the garden and the many sculptures installed along the trails, making it one of the top visitor attractions in Prince Edward County. Don’t miss it.
Vintage 77
Ameliasburgh, a small rural community located in Prince Edward County, is a picturesque village with a rich history dating back to the early 1800s.
The community is known for its beautiful scenery, including lush forests, rolling hills and scenic lakes.
But it’s also home to Vintage 77, a three-bedroom, two-bathroom getaway on Roblin Lake that’s suitable for six guests and their pup(s).
Here, you can take advantage of central air (which you’ll appreciate on the steamy summer days!), and a large deck by the water that’s perfect for swimming, catching some rays, boating and fishing.
There’s also a dock, canoe, firebowl and plenty of outdoor seating, so if you are traveling with your dog, they can get in on the marshmallow roasting, too.
If you want to get in a little culture during your stay, wander over to the Ameliasburgh Heritage Village, a complex of museum buildings and displays. Over the years, the collection of buildings has continued to grow, with a church, log cabin, display barns, blacksmith shop, carpenter’s shop, a sap shanty, dairy and beekeeping buildings, a general store and a larger stone building being added to the village over time.
But if you’re visiting during the spring months, we’d suggest heading to one of the sugarbushes that are close by. Especially if you’re here during March Maple Madness, an event designed to celebrate local Prince Edward County businesses, sugar bushes and all things Maple.
One final tip on this property: You can rent this home along with Roblin Lake Escape (give us a call for more information) for a total occupancy of 10 guests plus additional children. It’s just a five-minute walk or canoe ride between the properties.

The lake is also a popular destination for fishing, boating, and other water sports, so you can fully immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the area while enjoying your favourite activities.
And can we just add: it’s hard to beat falling asleep to the sound of waves crashing against the shoreline.
Here are just a few options for you to consider if you want to stay water-side.
West Lake – The Consecon

During your stay, make sure you take the time to check out Huff Estates Winery, which is located within Bloomfield.
Situated on a picturesque property surrounded by vineyards, gardens, and a sculpture garden, Huff Estates has a focus on producing premium quality wines using only estate-grown grapes.
They offer a diverse range of wines, including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and sparkling wines, which have won numerous awards and accolades.
Take advantage of tastings, tours, and dining experiences at the on-site restaurant, which offers locally sourced cuisine paired with their wines.
You can learn more about the winery (and some of the other great wineries in Prince Edward County!), by checking out this blog.
One final tip: It’s also good to note that The Consecon is part of Westlake Cottage Resort, which consists of 12 units that can all be rented together for larger groups! So if you have a family reunion, a wedding, or some other special occasion coming up, keep this property in mind.
Sakura Cottage
Someone once said, “Nothing’s beautiful from every point of view” but we have to beg to differ. Especially when it comes to this gorgeous waterfront cottage in Wellington.
The property’s large windows give you a panoramic view of the lake, so you can spot windsurfers expertly navigating the waves while you whip up a meal in the fully-equipped kitchen.
The three-bedroom, two-bathroom home also features a large deck, so you can watch the moon make its magical appearance over the lake at night and then wake up in the morning with a hot coffee to the sound of the waves hitting the limestone beach.
If you feel like getting out and about during your stay, we’d recommend checking out decanter, a boutique and tasting bar that features a unique selection of small batch and rare Ontario wines, craft beer, cider and mead, plus locally-sourced gifts, pantry fare, picnic supplies (perfect if you’re heading to the Sandbanks!), and gourmet snacks.
If you’re feeling adventurous, you can also rent a bike. There’s a variety of scenic routes and trails for riders of all levels, so you can explore the beautiful countryside while taking in the picturesque views of the rolling hills, lush vineyards and charming small towns in the area.
The Millennium Trail is a popular route that runs through Wellington, offering a 46-kilometre-long trail that winds through scenic farmland and forests.
Lakeside PEC
Also in Wellington is Lakeside PEC, a three-bedroom, two-bathroom home poised gracefully on the banks of Lake Ontario.
You’ll love the sweeping views afforded by the large windows in this newly-renovated home that has a gorgeous kitchen with stainless steel appliances, an open-concept design, and a massive deck ideal for entertaining long into the night.
The home also features a firepit and limestone ledges that offer natural steps into the lake so experienced swimmers can take a refreshing dip when the temps are soaring. (Or just cool off with the home’s AC).
During your stay, make the trip into the village of Wellington to visit The Wellington Bakery, home to a second-generation master baker who serves up freshly-made European–inspired baked goods.
Sunset View
If sunset is the opening music of the night, get ready to turn up the volume.
This beautiful, newly-renovated two-bedroom home is ready to give you a whole new perspective on twilight and its incredible beauty.
The large windows that span the open concept living space deliver breathtaking views of Lake Ontario, with a kitchenette that provides you with all the essentials you need during your Prince Edward County vacation.
Located in Cressy, this home is a quick jaunt to Picton (just 25 minutes), and Sandbanks Provincial Park (35 minutes).
You’re also close to Lake on the Mountain, a geological wonder. It’s a “natural curiosity” with a constant flow of clean, fresh water and no apparent source. Perched atop a natural limestone ridge that stands 60 meters above the Bay of Quinte, we’d encourage you to be sure you bring along a camera for some epic photos.
